It's already October! We've been learning a lot in our classroom, and I want to update you with what's been going on.
Who We Are
We are currently in our first unit of inquiry. Our units of inquiry encompass writing, social studies, and science. Our central idea is: Communities are defined by governments. We've been exploring what this means together in the classroom! We also had an opportunity to interview some guests on Monday, and you can see what our students learned on Seesaw. If you haven't gotten onto Seesaw yet, I encourage you to do so!
Today we learned about the rights of citizens in the US. We inquired about the Bill of Rights and what it means for us. We will also be learning about responsibilities we have as citizens in the US, writing a paragraph about one right and responsibility, and then creating an infographic about what we've learned to end this unit. Please feel free to ask your student at home about what they've been learning!

Math
Unit 1 is nearly finished. We are reviewing for our post-assessment which will be either this Friday or on Monday. Students have been working hard to lay strong foundations in addition, subtraction, and other concepts so that we can be successful later as math becomes more difficult. Please continue to work with them on their homework when you can.
Reading
Students have been exploring character traits together. We've been noticing the difference between emotions and traits and describing characters in the books we're reading with new vocabulary.
